To obtain an ink jet recorder in which ink ejection is stopped and the ink ejection opening is cleaned when a backup power supply detects power interruption to start battery power supply and a transition is made to a stop state where running down of the battery in the backup power supply causes no problem at any time.
The ink jet recorder provided with nozzles ejecting ink for printing a print content on a matter being printed makes a transition to a stop state before a power supply is interrupted. The ink jet recorder comprises a terminal part for inputting a signal from an external unit, and a controller for monitoring the state of the input signal wherein the controller controls the ink jet recorder to stop operation upon detecting a variation in the input signal and to make a transition to the stop state.
