To provide an ink jet recording body which has high surface glossiness and dot reproducibility similar to those of silver salt pictures, especially is excellent in appearance such as high glossiness and high smoothness and in ink absorbency, and good in releasability during operation.

The ink jet recording body has the following characteristics. The ink jet recording body has an ink receiving layer, which has a pigment and an adhesive on a low gas-permeable or non-gas permeable support. It has a gloss layer, which includes a minute pigment selected from silica, aluminum hydroxide, boehmite, pseudo-boehmite, and alumina, and a releasing agent represented by general formulas 1, 2, on the ink receiving layer. Here, general formula 1 is represented by R1-COO N(R2)4. General formula 2 is represented by R3-N+R4R5R6X-. Also, in the formulas, R1 represents a 10-18C alkyl group or alkenyl group, R2 respectively represents H and a 1-4C alkyl group, R3 represents a 10-18C alkyl group or alkenyl group, R4, R5, and R6 respectively represent H and a 1-4C alkyl group, and X- represents F-, C1-, and Br- or I-.
