To suppress deterioration in recording quality caused by color unevenness caused by a difference in ink landing order and stripe unevenness caused by a difference in characteristics of recording heads in a recording device using a joint head in which recording heads each having nozzle arrays for discharging different colors are arranged.
An ink-jet recording device has recording heads 311, 312, respectively, including each first nozzle array 311C, 312C and each second nozzle array 311M, 312M. The different recording heads are arranged so as to include an overlap area B in a prescribed direction. When the number of ejections ejected in the overlap area exceeds a threshold, a difference in distribution rate to the plurality of nozzle arrays of the same color is set larger compared with when the number of ejections is smaller than a prescribed threshold. When the number of ejections exceeds the prescribed threshold, recording data of the same color are distributed to the plurality of nozzle arrays of the same color so that the number of pixels with the same ink overlapping order in the non-overlap areas A, C is larger than the number of pixels with the ink overlapping order different from that of in the non-overlap areas.
