PURPOSE: To obtain an ink jet recording head superior in ink delivery direction properties and delivery response properties by forming an ink meniscus of a suitable shape on a head delivery port for delivering ink.
CONSTITUTION: On a front end face of a head having a plurality of openings of ink delivery ports 35a, a liquid repellent film L is formed with a uniform thickness. An ink jet recording head H having such a construction can be manufactured by successively conducting a liquid repellent coating process and a liquid repellent uniformizing process. In the former process, a liquid repellent is applied to the front end face of the head while gas is emitted from said plurality of two or more ink delivery ports 35a opened in the head front end face. In the latter process, the ink jet recording head H coated with the liquid repellent is rotated for uniformly distributing the liquid repellent all over the head end face.
