PURPOSE: To provide the subject ink containing a dye containing C.I. Direct Black 51, etc., a polar organic solvent and water, giving a dense and clear image having excellent fixability and water-resistance, free from clogging trouble and having excellent thermal stability and safety.
CONSTITUTION: The objective ink contains (A) a dye containing (i) C.I. Direct Black 51 and (ii) a compound of formula I and/or formula II [Q1 is phenyl substituted with lower acylamino group, etc., naphthyl or naphthyl substituted with SO3M group; Q2 is naphthyl substituted with SO3M group or phenyl substituted with lower alkoxy group; Q3 is (SO3-substituted) phenyl or naphthyl; R1 and R2 are lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or lower acylamino; R3 is H or phenyl substituted with SO3 3M group; (n) is 0 or 1; M is alkali metal or ammonium], (B) a polar organic solvent preferably containing a polyhydric alcohol and (C) water.
