To achieve a long life of an ink ribbon even in the case where a storing capacity of the ink ribbon is limited concerning an ink ribbon cassette and a printer.
The printer 50 has a ribbon driving roller 20 for traveling an ink ribbon, and a cassette tip arm part wherein printing is executed on the ink ribbon with a printing head, and is equipped with a cassette main frame 12 transferrably fitted to a base 52 being a part of the printer rotatably around a certain axis, and driving mechanisms 26, 30, 32 for revolving the cassette main frame 12 by receiving rotary force of a ribbon driving means 60 of the printer. A printing area of the ink ribbon can be spread in a width direction by transferring the cassette main frame 12 in the width direction of the ink ribbon.
