To provide an ink-jet printer having low cost, high picture quality and high reliability and effective for remarkably suppressing the coagulation of pigment and stably forming a high-quality printed image in the case of loading an ink set for ink-jet recording composed of a pigment-based ink and a dye-based ink on a conventional low-cost ink-jet printer furnished with a simple maintenance system.
The ink set for ink-jet recording has a pigment-based ink containing a negative-charge self-dispersing pigment as a coloring material and a dye-based ink containing an anionic dye as a coloring material and satisfies formula (1): Dci<1.1×Pci+0.0001 wherein Dci is the amount (mol/g) of the counter ion of the anionic dye in the dye-based ink, and Pci is the amount (mol/g) of the counter ion of the self-dispersing pigment in the pigment-based ink.
