PURPOSE: To directly detect the position of the position display mark part of an ink sheet by the reflection from the surface of the ink sheet, in the ink sheet for a hard copy apparatus outputting an image, by forming the position display mark part of said sheet into a reflecting gloss surface.

CONSTITUTION: A yellow colorant layer 1a, a magenta colorant layer 1b and a cyan colorant layer 1c are formed and a position display mark part 1d having a reflecting gloss surface is also formed by applying aluminum ink. Since the mark part 1d of an ink sheet 1 opposed to a detection sensor 7 has the reflecting gloss surface, the light emitted from the detection sensor 7 is reflected from the surface 1d of the ink sheet 1 to be detected by the detection sensor 7. That is, the reflecting gloss surface 1d is arranged to the head part of the colorant layer part of yellow, magenta and cyan colorants 1a, 1b, 1c. By this method, a recording apparatus can detect the head position of the ink sheet 1.
