To provide an inkjet recording apparatus capable of reducing ink waste in transportation.
The inkjet recording apparatus includes: a main tank 1; a sub tank 2; a recording head 7; an air supply path 4; an ink supply path 3; a valve 10; a driving mechanism 20; a storage unit wherein history data are stored; and a control unit. The control unit is configured to measure the ejected ink amount whenever the recording head 7 ejects the ink after receiving the input of the transport date of the inkjet recording apparatus, also, predict the total amount of ink ejected from the recording head 7 by the transport date after the ejection date of the ink on the basis of the history data, and configured to, during the valve 10 is open, control the driving mechanism 20 to close the valve 10 when the measured ejection amount X establishes X>Y-Z (wherein, Y denotes the predicted total amount of ink, Z denotes an ink amount in the sub tank 2 in the state where the liquid level of the ink is positioned at the lower end of the air supply path 4).
