To provide an inkjet recording medium which eliminates image bleeding over a long period of time and has excellent light resistance, while maintaining good gloss and high ink absorbing performance, and an inkjet recording method.
In the inkjet recording medium where an ink absorbing layer is provided on a substrate, the ink absorbing layer contains a complex which is formed of at least a divalent metal and an acidic group-containing compound having a substituent including a nitrogen atom, an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom. In the inkjet recording method, an image is formed on the inkjet recording medium by using an ink set for inkjet recording, which is composed of respective inks containing yellow, magenta and cyan dye, and wherein an oxidation potential of the magenta dye and/or the cyan dye is higher than 0.8 V (vs SCE). Preferably, a compound, which is expressed by general formula (I), is used as the acidic group-containing compound.
