To provide an inner peripheral iron plate inserting apparatus for packing steel plate coils which can hold inner peripheral iron plates different in length from one another, can insert the inner peripheral iron plates into an inner diameter part of a steel plate coil and can suppress an installation space.

The inner peripheral iron plate inserting apparatus 1 for packing steel plate coils includes a movable carrier 5, an elevator 6, a drive supporting device 7 and an insert mechanism 8. The movable carrier 5 moves in a direction for inserting a drum 21 of the insert mechanism 8 into an inner diameter part of a steel plate coil. The elevator 6 supports the insert mechanism 8 or the like so that it can rise/lower. The drive supporting device 7 movably supports the insert mechanism 8 or the like in a direction crossing with a moving direction of the movable carrier 5. The insert mechanism 8 includes the drum 21, a press mechanism or the like. The drum 21 and a pressing plate of the press mechanism are rotatably supported independently from each other. A stop mechanism, a pressurizing mechanism and a fixing mechanism are provided in the drum 21.
