Title:
INORGANIC FRICTIONAL MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000328171
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain the subject material having a high friction coefficient and high wear resistance and low in attackability for the mating material by specifying the contents of vermiculite and graphite in a metallic frictional material in which the metal matrix is composed of a copper alloy or a cermet frictional material and the contents of metallic oxides such as SiO2 and Al2O3 or mineral contg. them.

The content of vermiculite is controlled to, by weight, 0.5 to 5%, that of graphite to 7 to 20%, and metallic oxides such as SiO2, Al2O3 and ZrO2 or mineral contg. them are incorporated by 10 to 40%. Vermiculite is metallic oxides such as SiO2 and MgO and is effective for increasing its friction coefficient. Moreover, it has a layered structure, and therefore, its attackability for the mating material is low. Graphite has lubricity approximately to 400°C as a self-lubricating component and furthermore has high effect on the wear resistance thereof. Thus, this material is used for the material for an automotive brake, the material for a clutch, or the like.
