Title:
INORGANIC NON-AQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04206256
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent large current from flowing at the time of short-circuiting by coating a substance equal to discharge product on a surface of a separator in advance and also containing sulfuryl chloride in electrolyte.

CONSTITUTION: An inorganic non-aqueous electrolyte battery comprises solvent of a thionyl chloride positive pole 3 active material and electrolyte 5, a negative pole 1 made of alkali metal, alkali earth metal or alkali metal alloy, a positive pole 3 made of carbon porous mold, a separator 4 and the electrolyte 5. The separator 4 is coated on the surface with a substance equal to discharge product in advance. Further, sulfuryl chloride is contained in the electrolyte. As a result, internal resistance of the battery can be increased to a degree that discharge characteristics are not adversely influenced, and also the discharge product can be finely deposited into the separator 4 to have the internal resistance increased. Thus flow of large current can be prevented at the time of short- circuiting so that heat generation of the battery can be suppressed.
