PURPOSE: To connect a measuring equipment and other equipment simply and easily by providing a means setting an input and output interface from the measuring equipment side and a means displaying the result of setting of other equipments onto a display screen.

CONSTITUTION: An MPU 31 of a system controller 3 enters the pressing state of a panel switch 8 to discriminate the type of the equipment. Then the controller 3 sets a communication protocol to an input/output interface controller 4 in matching with the specified type of equipment. Moreover, the controller 3 displays the setting method and the content so as to make the communication protocol set to the controller 4 in matching with the connected equipment. The desired connection is finished by revising the equipment to be connected according to the setting method displayed finally. Since a prescribed setting of the inside of the input/output interface of a CRT 1 is set and the setting of the equipment to be connected to be in matching with the setting of the interface is displayed by having only to select the equipment to be connected by the switch 8, simple and easy setting is attained.
