Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-hardness polyphosphonate having a high molecular weight.SOLUTION: A branched insoluble polyphosphonate is obtained by a production method including a first heating step of heating a mixture of one or more phosphonic acid diallyl esters, one or more bisphenols, one or polyphenols serving as a branching agent and an alkali catalyst in a vacuum, in a reaction vessel, to a temperature at which phenol is distilled from the vessel and heating continuously until the emission of phenol stops and a second heating step of heating the reaction mixture, at least from restarting of emission of phenol, to a temperature at which the emission of phenol stops so as to form a partially or completely insoluble material in methylene chloride or tetrahydrofuran after 8-hour immersion.
