PURPOSE: To perform fast inspection processing through a simple mechanism by dividing the area of plural tracks of a floppy recording medium in a bare state and arranging magnetic heads corresponding to respective areas, and scanning the areas simultaneously.
CONSTITUTION: Head carriages 21W23 provided to a floppy inspection unit are arranged at the periphery of a floppy medium 3 to be inspected and the magnetic heads 21cW21c provided to the respective carriages are moved forth and back. Magnetic head assemblies 21aW23a have the upper and lower magnetic heads 21cW23c corresponding to both surfaces of the floppy medium 3. Then about 80W100 tracks are divided into three and the magnetic head assemblies 21aW23a are put in charge of tracks where the head carriage 21 is arranged at the outer periphery, tracks where the carriage 22 is arranged at the center part, and tracks where the head carriages 23 are arranged at the inner periphery respectively, thereby writing and reading specific information when the inspection is performed. Therefore, the inspection speed is increased by the number of magnetic heads.
