To improve an inspection method for the functionality of a tank venting system for a motor vehicle equipped with an internal combustion engine to inspect a scavenging process or a washing process available in addition to the functionality of a tank venting valve.
The inspection method for the functionality of the tank venting system for the motor vehicle equipped with the internal combustion engine includes an controllable tank venting valve connected to an intake manihold and at least one pressure source for airtightness inspection of the tank venting system using overpressure or underpressure. The functionality inspection of the tank venting valve is performed by opening and closing the tank venting valves during pressurizing the tank system with overpressure or underpressure and by measuring and evaluating at least one operating variable of the pressure source. The inspection method for the tank venting system for the motor vehicle equipped with the internal combustion engine includes measurement and evaluation of at least one operating variable of application of the overpressure or the underpressure to the tank venting system and the pressure source during the operation of the internal combustion engine.
