Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable non-contact inspection of an angle of inclination and a plane accuracy of a cut face of an optical fiber, by projecting alignment light onto the cut face of the optical fiber from two directions at right angle to each other. CONSTITUTION:First, alignment lights 81 and 82 are projected aslant onto a cut face 7a from two directions at right angle to each other. Position detecting sensors 91 and 92 are provided at two points corresponding to the alignment lights 81 and 82 are receive directly reflected light from the cut face 7a to detect and inspect an angle of inclination of the cut face 7a. Then, a parallel laser beam is divided 4 into measuring and reference beams and with an angle of inclination displacing mechanism 11 driven according to the data of an angle of inclination detected, the cut face 7a is made to align an optical axis of the measuring beam vertically. Then, the measuring beam is focused with a condenser lens to be projected onto the cut face 7a to combine the reflected beam of the measuring beam from the cut face 7a with the reflected beam by a reference mirror thereby enabling inspection of a plane accuracy from an abnormal configuration of an interference fringe of the cut face 7a generated in the combined beam.
