Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically inspect postal items in just proportion.
SOLUTION: This postal item inspection system 1 has a detector 5 which is fed with the postal items to be inspected via a conveyance path 4 from a supply section 3 and measures the thicknesses of the postal items, a hard foreign matter sensing section 14 which senses the postal items including un-processable contents, a two-letter sensing section 6 which sense whether the postal items are doubly fed and conveyed or not, a posture correcting section 7 which corrects the conveyance postures of the postal items, a reading section 8 which reads the information on the postal items, a data processing section 10 which determines the sorting destinations of the postal items in accordance with the information read by the reading section 8 and registered customer information, a branching section 9 which branches the postal items in accordance with the results of the data processing section 10, a collection section 12 which collects the postal items, lamps 15 which instruct the taking out, etc., of the postal items and a label printer 16 which issues labels. The system also has expulsion boxes 13a to 13e into which the expelled postal items not processable by this system are put.
