Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for detecting a broken hole, capable of detecting a broken hole in oven wall bricks of a coke oven carbonization chamber, and to provide a process for producing coke, which uses the instrument.
SOLUTION: The instrument for detecting a broken hole in a coke oven is provided with a light beam-irradiating device 2, an oven wall light-detecting device 3, and a broken hole-judging device 4. A light beam 7 is irradiated on the wall surface 15 of a coke oven carbonization chamber by the irradiation device 2, and the optical information from the oven wall surface, containing the reflected light 8 of the irradiated light beam 7 is detected by the detection device 3. The judgment device 4 judges the presence of a broken hole 14 in the wall surface based on the state of the reflected light 8 in the optical information detected. The irradiation device 2 is a laser beam irradiation device irradiating a light with a wavelength of 550 nm or less. The detection device 3 specifically detects an optical element with a wavelength of 550 nm or less.
