PURPOSE: To measure alcohol concn. continuously and automatically by detecting a liquid column pressure of a specified height by a pressure detector and converting the same to the alcohol concn.
CONSTITUTION: A sample liquid fed to an alcohol proof measuring instrument 6 flows through a motor-operated valve 7 and a pressure detector 8 into a measuring pipe 9 from which the liquid is recovered in a receiving tank 12. The valve 7 is fully closed and is stopped when the sample liquid flows into the pipe for the prescribed time. The overflow liquid level of the pipe 9 stabilizes upon lapse of several seconds thereafter. The liquid column pressure of the sample liquid is measured by the pressure detector 8 at the point of this time and the measurement signal is sent to a computing element 13 by which the signal is converted to the alcohol concn. The temp. of the sample liquid is simultaneously measured by a temp. sensor 11 and the measurement signal is sent to the computing element 13, by which the temp. correction is executed. The alcohol concn. is displayed on a display meter 14.
