A plurality of pair flat conductors 2 whose cross-sectional areas are the same are arranged in a row direction and insulated together with an insulating film tape 3 to form a parallel flat insulated wire 1. The parallel flat insulated wire 1 is bent on a plane approximately in parallel with its arrangement plane and piled spirally in a column direction to form an insulated coil. Since a plurality of bare flat conductors are insulated together with the insulating film tape 3 to form the insulated coil, the cross-sectional area of the insulated coil can be reduced, insulating material can be saved, and a low cost insulated coil can be manufactured. Not only the bare flat conductors are arranged in parallel in a row direction, but also they may be piled in a column direction and insulated as a bindle.
