Abstract:
To provide a resin composition and an insulated electric wire which achieve both of improved collapse resistance in a non-crosslinking state and an improved degree of crosslinking in a crosslinking state.SOLUTION: An insulated electric wire 10 has a conductor 1 and an insulating layer 2 covering the periphery of the conductor 1. The insulating layer 2 is formed of a resin composition containing a base polymer and a metal hydroxide. The base polymer contains an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and an ethylene-α olefin copolymer. The α olefin is a non-polar monomer, a melting point of the ethylene-α olefin copolymer is 70 or less, and the total content of the vinyl acetate in the base polymer is 19 mass% or less. The resin composition contains 20 pts.mass or more and 70 pts.mass or less of the ethylene-α olefin copolymer in 100 pts.mass of the base polymer, and the resin composition contains 30 pts.mass or more and 150 pts.mass or less of the metal hydroxide with respect to 100 pts.mass of the base polymer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
