PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve EGR control accuracy.
SOLUTION: An accelerator position θa and engine speed Ne are inputted (S1), a target intake air amount Qa and a target EGR rate are calculated (S2), thereby calculating a target EGR rate (S3), the target EGR rate is converted into a new gas amount in the case of introducing the new gas instead of EGP gas (S4), a total gas (new gas) amount obtained by adding the target intake air amount Qa and the converted new gas value are calculated (S5), a total opening area of an intake system corresponding to a total gas amount is calculated (S6), an opening area is calculated by calculating a throttle valve opening area and an EGR valve opening area based on the target intake air amount Qa and the converted new gas value (S7), and the throttle valve and the EGR valve are controlled based on the throttle valve opening area and the EGR valve opening area.
