Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the thermal efficiency and fuel consumption of an engine by suppressing the pumping loss at the time of a low load to the minimum in the intake control device of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: The separate second intake passage 15 guiding the outside air is connected to the middle of the first intake passage 11 guiding the outside air to the combustion chamber S of an engine 1 via an intake valve 13, the first control valve 16 is provided on the first intake passage 11, and the second control valve 17 is provided on the second intake passage 15 respectively. A closed space V is formed between the intake valve 13 and its upstream before the intake valve 13 is opened at least at the time of a low load, and the drive of the first control valve 16 is interlocked with the accelerator operation. The capacity of the closed space is increased or deceased according to the accelerator operation quantity, the second control valve is normally closed when the intake valve 13 is opened, and the second control valve 17 is normally opened or is opened by a prescribed crankshaft rotation angle. Since the pressure of the second control valve 17 is kept nearly at the atmospheric pressure before the intake valve 13 is opened, the pumping loss is reduced as a result.
