Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve scavenging property across a region from a low speed range to a high speed range in a high load range and prevent blowout of fuel in the low speed range by means of a relatively simple structure in an engine with a mechanical supercharger.
CONSTITUTION: A mechanical type supercharger 5 and a valve timing variable mechanism 20 are provided, and the valve timing variable mechanism 20 is controlled so that valve opening overlap of intake/exhaust valve is increased at least in a high load range, and decreased in a low speed low-load range, and a resonance system composed of an independent intake passage 12 and a circumferential passage 17 etc., is set to generate the resonant supercharging in the high speed range in the high load range., and an injector 19 is controlled so that fuel injection is performed in the low speed range during an intake stroke.
