Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strengthen a tumble in a cylinder 2 and prevent a reverse flow of intake air from the cylinder 2 without excessively reducing an opening ratio of an intake port 5.
SOLUTION: A partition wall 11 provided in the intake port 5 along a longitudinal direction to divide the intake port 5 into a first flow path 5A in an upper side and a second flow path 5B in a lower side. An intake control valve 31 is arranged in an upstream side of the partition wall 11, and a gap 12 is formed between the partition wall 11 and a valve body 33. When the intake control valve is in a closing position, the intake air is restricted to flow only in the first flow path 5A in the upper side, at the same time a low pressure region is generated in a downstream side of the valve body 33, and the intake air is taken in from a downstream end of the second flow path 5B due to differential pressure to reflow to the first flow path 5A through the gap 12. Thus, a flow rate of the air passed through a valve gap in the lower side of an intake valve 7 is reduced and the flow rate of the air passed through the valve gap in the upper side is increased to strengthen the tumble. A masking area is provided on a part of a peripheral edge of a valve opening 43 so as not to generate the reverse flow of the intake air through the valve gap in the lower side.
