To enlarge a volume of a surge tank without increasing a total height of an engine by utilizing a dead space at a lower part of the surge tank, and to improve the output at a high rotation side.
In this intake device of the V-type engine wherein the surge tank extended to a cylinder bank direction is mounted at an upper part of a spatial part between first and second engine banks of the V-type engine, first and second intake pipes are respectively communicated to the surge tank at its one end side and communicated to the first and second engine banks at the other end side, first and second branch pipes are respectively communicated to the surge tank at its one end side and communicated to the neighborhood of the other end side of the first and second intake pipes at the other end side, and switch valve means for opening and closing first and second branch passages are respectively mounted at one end side of the first and second branch pipes, a lower face part of the surge tank is positioned at a lower part of the spatial part with respect to the communication part, so that the communication parts of the first and second branch pipes to the first and second intake pipes are included in a tank chamber of the surge tank.
