To provide an intake device for a V-type engine which effectively prevents uncomfortable noise with intermittent feeling emitted during silent operation of an engine.

Individual air cleaners are provided for a first to a fourth cylinder corresponding to a left side bank and a fifth to an eighth cylinder corresponding to a right bank are provided respectively, and downstream ends of the cool air duct 16 including a single intake air inlet 16a and branching to two are connected to the air cleaners respectively. A common part 16b of the air duct is partitioned into a left and a right passage by a partition wall 17. A roughly ellipse shape communication port 18 opening to establish communication of upstream ends of left and right first branch parts mutually opposing and a shutter valve 19 opening and closing the communication port are provided on a rear end part of the partition wall. The shutter valve is driven not to block the communication port 18 during silent operation of the engine 1 in which the engine 1 is in idling rotation speed range and vehicle speed is 5km/h or less.
