Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an intake system of an engine capable of stratifying sufficiently a mixture at the low rotation speed to improve the ignition property and combustion quality effectively and improving sufficiently the intake filling efficiency at high rotation speed.
CONSTITUTION: In an engine CE, a VICS valve 37 is closed at the low rotation speed, a mixture is supplied from a mixture supply port 7 into a combustion chamber 2 and concentrated around an ignition plug 8 to stratify the inside of the combustion chamber 2 to improve the ignition property and combustion quality of the mixture. The pulsation of pressurized air supplied to the mixture supply port 7 from an air pump 33 is damped by an expansion chamber 32. The variation of an inflow amount (flow speed) of the mixture from the mixture supply port 7 to the combustion chamber 2 is reduced to stabilize the stratification. At the high speed rotation, the VICS valve 37 is opened to perform the inertial supercharge in the expansion chamber 32 of pressure inverting section on the second intake port 4 side to improve the filling efficiency.
