To provide an interior face scanning type image forming apparatus, in which the influence of side lobe generated by foreign materials attached to the reflection mirror face of a mirror spinner is removed and high quality images are produced.
In the interior face scanning type image forming apparatus, a recording medium is held by a support body having a cylindrical inner face, a beam deflection element having a reflecting face which reflects a light beam from a light source part toward the inner peripheral face (surface of the recording medium) of the support body rotates about the center axis of the inner peripheral face for the main scanning, and moves in the subscanning direction, to form an image. Furthermore, a profile measurement unit which measures the side lobe amount and a cleaning means which cleans the deflecting face are provided, the optimum cleaning time is decided, on the basis of the measured result of the side lobe amount and the deflection face is cleaned with the cleaning means.
