Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an intermediate useful for preparing a dispersing agent- viscosity improving agent for lubricants and provide a method for preparing the intermediate. SOLUTION: This composition comprises a reaction product of (A) at least one kind of olefinic unsaturated hydrocarbon polymer having about 20,000-500,000 Mn when the polymer is not a star polymer and having about <= about 4,000,000 GPC peak molecular weight when the polymer is a star polymer with (B) at least one kind of carboxylic acid reaction product selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by the following formula [R<3> and R<5> are each independently H or a hydrocarbyl group; R<4> is bifunctional hydrocarbylene group; (n) is 0 or 1] and its reactive raw materials.
