Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine compression ring capable of ensuring the suppression of the adhesion of oil sludge to the compression ring as compared with a conventional technique.SOLUTION: If it is assumed that a dispersion component, a polarity component, and a hydrogen bond component constituting surface free energy (per unit area (mJ/m)) at 80°C in at least part of a base material surface constituting an outer side surface of a compression ring (except for PTFE) are δ, δ, and δ, respectively, and that a dispersion component, a polarity component, and a hydrogen bond component constituting surface free energy (per unit area (mJ/m)) of engine oil at 80°C are δ, δ, and δ(δ=38.9,δ=13.6,δ=0.0), respectively, ε defined by the following equation is not less than 8.
