Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine and a control method therefor, which improve overall fuel economy while aiming for early warming-up in the internal combustion engine having a variable valve gear of an exhaust valve and a turbocharger with a power generator.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 10 includes a variable valve gear 21 which enables opening and closing of an exhaust valve 14 other than those in an exhaust stroke, and a motor generator 22 using a rotary shaft 18 of a turbocharger 17 as a drive shaft. The internal combustion engine includes parameter acquisition devices 31-34 for acquiring parameters capable of determining whether or not an operating state of the internal combustion engine 10 requires warming-up, and a control device 35. The control device 35 is configured to perform coordinated warming-up control for causing the exhaust valve 14 to be opened in each of an intake stroke and an exhaust stroke by the variable valve gear 21 and the motor generator 22 to be regeneratively driven when it is determined based on the parameters acquired by the parameter acquisition devices 31-34 that the operating state requires warming-up.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
