Title:
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE HAVING DEACTIVATABLE VALVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0610636
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an internal combustion engine having both possibility of deactivating each inlet valves and possibility of changing valve control time.

CONSTITUTION: Two cams 2, 3 are installed in two inlet valves 8, 9 of an internal combustion engine, among them, the first cam 2 is for operation at low speed and low load, and the second cam 3 is for operation at high speed and high load. The first valve 8 is permanently driven, and when the second valve 9 is deactivated, it is driven from the first cam 2 through a first transmission lever 5. A second transmission lever 6 is arranged in the second valve 9. And the second valve 9 is driven by the second transmission lever 6 after a first clutch 19 is inserted between the second transmission lever 6 and a third transmission lever 7 that is permanently driven by the second cam 3. A clutch 20 between the first and the second transmission levers 5, 6 serves to couple the first valve 8 with the second cam 3 when required.
