Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise in a wide range of frequencies generated in accordance with an operating state of an internal combustion engine by using one resonator.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes: a supercharger 20 disposed in an intake passage; a bypass pipe 21; a bypass valve 23 disposed in the bypass pipe; a resonator 19 disposed in the intake passage; and a variable compression ratio mechanism B. The resonator includes a resonator body 75, and the volume of the resonator body can be changed by changing the length between an upstream end and a downstream end. One of the upstream end and the downstream end of the resonator body is fixed to a crank case 1, and the other end is fixed to a cylinder member. By changing a relative distance between the crank case and the cylinder member, the length between the ends is changed, so as to vary the volume of the resonator body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
