Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine suitable for preventing or suppressing excessive rise of cooling medium temperature in a cooling passage part which supplies the cooling medium between cylinder bores.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 1 includes a cylinder block 2 and a cylinder head 3, a cooling passage part W1 provided around a cylinder group of the cylinder block 2 for flowing cooling water, a cooling passage part W2 provided in the cylinder head 3 for flowing the cooling water, a cooling passage part W3 communicating the cooling passage parts W1, W2 with each other for supplying the cooling water between cylinder bores CB of the cylinder block 2, and a protruded part 31 which is provided downstream of a connection portion C to which the cooling passage part W3 is connected, at flowing portion K where the cooling water flows along a cylinder array direction X, of the cylinder block 2 in the cooling passage part W2.
