Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve heat efficiency of an internal combustion engine having a comparatively high compression ratio.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine 1 including a cylinder block 2 having a cylinder bore 7 for reciprocatably accommodating a piston 35, a cylinder head 3 connected to a top face of the cylinder block and defining a combustion chamber 45 between a crown surface 44 of the piston and an inner face of the cylinder bore, and a spark plug 22 of which a spark generating portion 23 is projected into a combustion chamber, a mechanical compression ratio is 11.0 or more, a bore stroke ratio as a ratio of stroke of the piston to a diameter of the cylinder bore is 1.25 or more and 1.7 or less, the combustion chamber has a highest height at a part of the spark generating portion, and an average height at a top dead center of the piston is 6.5 mm or more and 10 mm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
