Abstract:

PURPOSE: To measure and figure the real shape of a bore hole wall surface with high accuracy by reflecting a sound wave which is sent by a sound wave transmitter receiver by the wall surface and using the time of transmission and reception at a position corresponding to the sound wave transmitter receiver and the amplitude of the sound wave.

CONSTITUTION: Sound wave transmitter receiver 22 are fitted on a rotary shaft 21 at equal intervals l and provided having directivity in one direction of the wall surface 2. Further, the receives 22 function as transmitters and receivers respectively. Sound waves which are radiated by the transmitters of the receivers 22 are propagated in air when there is no medium in the bore hole 1 or water when the bore hole is filled with the water, and reflected at a reflection point (f) on the wall surface 2 to reach the receivers. The distance from the transmitter a1 to the receiver b1 through the reflection point (f) is represented as a function of the distance between the mid-point M and reflection point (f) and specific simultaneous equations constituting a reflected- wave scanning time curve are solved to find the sound speed and distance in the medium. Further, the rotary shaft 21 is rotated on the axis of the bore hole 1 to find distributions of the distance from the center M to the reflection point (f), sound speed, and the flow speed of the medium over the entire periphery of the wall surface 2.
