PURPOSE: To eliminate uncomfortable feelings, such as moistening and smelling of footwear, by applying a synthetic resin contg. chitin and/or its deriv. to fiber base fabric constituting the internal packing material of the footwear.

CONSTITUTION: The internal packing material for footwear consists of the fiber base fabric and the synthetic resin applied in a dispersed or laminar state onto the fiber base fabric. The chitin and/or its deriv. is incorporated preferably at 0.5 to 2.0wt.% into the synthetic resin. Chitin having ≥50% degree of deacetylation or a carboxyl group-modified chitin, etc., are used as the deriv. of the chitin in such a case. The synthetic resin is preferably a moisture permeable polyurethane resin or acrylic resin, etc., and is preferably imparted at 1 to 100wt.% to the fiber base fabric by dipping the fiber base fabric in this resin or coating one or both surfaces of the fiber base fabric with the resin or laminating the resin thereon.
