PURPOSE: To provide an internal shortcircuit battery type catalyst facilitated in the separation of a reaction product and an electrolyte, obtained by forming a positive pole mixed layer consisting of an electron conductive catalyst, an ion exchange resin and a fluorine contained resin, an electron-ion mixed conductive layer and a negative pole mixed layer into a triple layered structure.
CONSTITUTION: An electron conductive catalyst powder available in the electrolytic reduction of an oxidant, an ion exchange resin and a fluorine contained resin are mixed to form a first positive pole mixed layer while a second electron- ion mixed conductive layer is formed of an electron conductive catalyst powder not necessarily relating to catalytic activity and an ion exchange resin. In addition, an electron conductive catalyst powder available in the electrolytic oxidation of a reductant, an ion exchange resin and a fluorine contained resin are mixed to form a third negative pole mixed layer. These three layers are laminated and formed into a triple layered bonded body by a hot press method. This catalyst has property such that the ion exchange resin functions as a solid electrolyte and is suitable for the oxidative or reductive reaction of the org. compound in an aqueous solution.
