The interphone master unit 10 with an automatic answering message recording function to which a plurality of doorphone slave units 12 are connectable and provided with an automatic answering mode for allowing the doorphone slave unit 12 to output a voice message for urging entry of a message when a call operation is applied to the doorphone slave unit and recording the entered message, is configured such that a slave unit detection section 106 discriminates a doorphone slave unit 12 receiving a call operation among the doorphone slave units 12, a message storage section 111 stores setting information of the automatic answering mode to each of the doorphone slave units 12. When a call operation comes from the doorphone slave unit 12, a control section 109 reads the setting information of the automatic answering mode corresponding to the doorphone slave unit 12 discriminated by the slave unit detection section 106 and executes the automatic answering mode when the doorphone slave unit 12 is the one to which the automatic answering mode is set.
