Abstract:
To simplify the inspection procedure in an intracatheter.SOLUTION: A parallel light formation part 26 is provided on a tip part 12A of an OCT catheter 12. The parallel light formation part 26 makes light from an optical fiber 14 substantially-parallel light to emit the light. When the light is emitted toward the outside from the inside of a blood vessel filled with the blood from the OCT catheter 12, the light is transmitted in such a state that scattering is suppressed in the blood since the substantially-parallel light OP is large in the light beam energy in parallel with an optical axis. Therefore, the reduction in the light intensity of reflection light reflected on a blood vessel wall is suppressed. In other words, a larger amount of the reflection light having the light intensity necessary for the observation of the blood vessel wall and reflected on the blood vessel wall can be obtained. As a result, the blood vessel wall can be observed without removing the blood by injecting a contrast agent into the blood vessel and the like. Consequently, the inspection procedure can be simplified.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
