Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ion beam having high monochromaticity by using an acceleration mechanism of a laser drive type.SOLUTION: In the case where a timing that a first region 32A is compressed near in a center by an ion compression due to an impulse wave generated in a hydrogen cluster 32 by an irradiation of a laser beam and thereby increased an ion density, and a timing that a plasma in the first region 32A is penetrated by a relativistic effect are matched, an electron and an ion (proton) in the first region 32A are exposed to an electronic field in which the laser beam has strength, and the electron is accelerated by a relativistic effect towards the front direction. An acceleration electric field structure located in a front direction is formed in the first region 32A by the electron to be accelerated in the front direction, and can especially effectively accelerate a laser plasma. At the time, since the electron and the ion located near in the center of the hydrogen cluster 32 only contribute to the acceleration of the laser plasma, a monochromaticity of an ion (proton) beam to be generated can be increased.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
