Abstract:
To provide cellulose nanocrystals which, when made into aqueous dispersion liquids, have low viscosity, are highly transparent, have excellent salinity tolerance, and have a large amount of ionic functional groups introduced thereinto, and a method of producing the same, and further to provide dispersion liquids, sheets, and powders containing the cellulose nanocrystals.SOLUTION: Provided is a method of producing an ionic functional group-introduced cellulose nanocrystal, comprising the following steps A to C in this order. Step A: Ionic functional group introduction step of introducing ionic functional groups into cellulose fibers. Step B: Hydrolysis step of hydrolyzing the cellulose fibers, into which ionic functional groups are introduced, with an acidic aqueous solution having a concentration of 5 mol/L or more. C: Fibrillation step of fibrillating cellulose fibers into which hydrolyzed ionic functional groups are introduced.SELECTED DRAWING: None
