PURPOSE: To provide an iron apparatus which allows efficiently cooling a surface to be ironed with a fan.

CONSTITUTION: An iron apparatus is constituted so that a surface to be ironed with an iron 33 placed on an iron placing portion is cooled with a fan by driving a fan 32 when the temperature of the surface to be ironed is set and changed from higher temperature to lower temperature. In addition, the revolution number of the fan 32 is reduced as the temperature of the surface approaches the set temperature. In addition, a first passage 27 for communicating an iron placing portion 2 and a fan 32/ and a second passage 28 for communicating an iron placing portion 3 and an iron 32 are provided. The first and the second passages are selectively opened and closed to exhaust steam that has passed through clothes placing portion with this single fan and hot air at the iron placing portion.
