Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a club set comprising a plurality of clubs with varying groove spacings by setting the groove spacing of each club to be equal to or greater than the groove spacing for the next club in the set with less club loft. SOLUTION: A plurality of groves 104 are arranged on the hit surface 103 of an iron 101. The groove spacing GS measured from the center of one groove to the center of another groove is constant throughout the hit surface 103 of the club. The groove spacing of long irons such as irons No.1-No.4 is greater than about 2.92 mm, preferably between about 2.92 mm and about 3.81 mm. The groove spacing of middle irons such as irons No.5-No.7 is about 2.67 mm, preferably 2.67 mm-3.16 mm. The minimum groove spacing of irons No.8 and No.9 i.e., short irons, such as pitching wedge, etc., is greater than the USGA minimum limitation, and is set to be less than about 2.92 mm.
