PURPOSE: To simplify the construction of the iron ion electrolytic cell and to reduce its weight by forming a sea water inlet part and an electrode housing section into a cylindrical shape of the same construction and further providing a square columnar electrode guide enclosing the circumference of steel plates to be electrolytically decomposed.
CONSTITUTION: The iron ions obtd. by electrolytically decomposing the steel plate are introduced together with the sea water which is a cooling water, into a cooling water pipe to form an iron film on its inside surface and to prevent the corrosion thereof. The sea water is introduced into the electrode housing section 3 through a chamber 2 in the upper part of the iron ion electrolytic cell 1 of the above-mentioned iron ion electrolytic device and is passed between electrodes 7 which are disposed at equal intervals in parallel. The electrodes 7 of the steel plates are electrolytically decomposed in this section and the sea water contg. the generated iron ions is discharged from a nozzle 9 in the lower part 8 of the cell. The electrode housing section 3 is made into a pressure resistant structure of the cylindrical shape having the same construction as the construction of the chamber 2 in the inlet part and is constituted freely attachably and detachably by means of a flange 6. Further, the square columnar electrode guide 4 enclosing the circumference of the electrodes 7 is provided so that the sea water flows uniformly between the electrodes 7. As a result, the inexpensive iron ion electrolytic cell having the good performance is obtd.
