To produce iron powder for dehalogenation decomposition of organic halogen compounds in soil, water such as ground water, and gas, which is high in the dehalogenation decomposition rate of the organic halogen compounds and solves the problem of secondary contamination with the metals included in the iron powder and a cost problem, and to provide a method for rapidly cleaning the organic halogen compounds in the contaminated soil, water such as ground water, and gas by using the above iron powder.
The iron powder for dehalogenation decomposition of the organic halogen compounds is carried and supported with an inorganic compound below 1×10-4 Ω.m in electric resistivity on the surface of the iron powder, and the method for cleaning the soil, water and/or gas contaminated with the organic halogen compounds comprises bringing the above iron powder into contact with the organic halogen compounds contained in at least one among the soil, the water and the gas to cause the dehalogenation decomposition of the organic halogen compounds.
