Abstract:
PURPOSE:To isolate easily a polymer as a fine and uniform powder by a simple operation from a reaction soln. by adding a specified phase separating agent to a reaction soln. wherein polycondensation forming an arom. poly(thio) etheramide has been completed and then adding a poor solvent of the polymer to the mixed soln. CONSTITUTION:An arom. poly(thio)etheramide obtd. by soln.-polycondensation of an arom. (thio)ether-diamine with terephthaloyl chloride and/or isophthaloyl chloride in a polar solvent is isolated from a reaction soln. wherein polycondensation has been completed by the following method. Namely, 90-400 pts.wt. phase separating agent of formula I (wherein one of R1 and R2 is H or formula II; another of them is a 1-8C linear, branched or cyclic aliph. residue, etc., X is H or -CH3; n is 1-3) or formula III (wherein X is H or -CH3; m is 3-8) are added to 100 pts.wt. polar solvent in the corresponding soln. to isolate an arom. poly(thio)etheramide from this mixed soln. and then 100-500 pts.wt. poor solvent of the polymer based on 100 pts.wt. polar solvent is added to said phase-separated mixed soln.
